I personally believe that it is better to know than not know. As an engineer I need to know science, but my girlfriend does not as an art teacher. Really, there is a lot that we do not NEED to know, but it is better to know. Mathimatics, why should I know how to calculate the cost of the things I am buying? Surely the seller is honest.

Feb 6, 2010 - The reason why it IS important to teach physics, chemistry, history, etc to kids is not because every single one of them is going to need to know it, but it is taught to them in hopes that they will find interest in those subjects. It is important that children be presented to these subjects at some point in their lives. If they arnt, then who is going to grow up to be the next leading Physicist or Chemist? The US needs these types of people. Teaching them these subjects is how we get those ppl.

"peppered moths" - remain evidence of evolution they have never been debunked. "embryology" - is a legitimate science "faked transitional forms' - ARE NOT IN THE TEXTBOOKS however valid ones are. "Mendelism" - was reconciled with evolutionary synthesis in the 1920's!!!!
